I Share Interesting Stuff

  We've come to the end of another term. Sometimes it was fun, sometimes stressful, but time passed by and here we are at the end of another term. I can say that we worked hard with my partner Merve Mızrak. Even though we struggled a lot, I believe that we could always find smart solutions. We worked on many different activities, most of which were my first time working on them. Despite their difficulties, I really enjoyed them. If any of my posts helped you, it means that I reached my aim. Who knows, maybe I will keep posting here one day - but until I do, bye and take care of yourself.

Hi everyone! Today, I will be talking about something interesting, which is called WebQuest. Firstly, I will define it,  "A WebQuest," according to Bernie Dodge, the originator of the WebQuest concept, "is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on  using  information rather than on looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation."  It enables us to give all the necessary information and resources step by step, without getting too complex for students to understand them. - My friend Merve Mızrak  and I came up with an example WebQuest, you can check it out by clicking here .   Hi everyone! Today's topic is pretty interesting, which is Augmented Reality, also known as AR. It is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information. We created a project with my friend Merve Mızrak to incorporate it into education. Inıtially, we planned to use the app ARize, but it did not work. So, we decided to use some 360 ° YouTube videos along with some QR codes. We created worksheets in which we present to students some of the most iconic landmarks of Moscow, Russia, and a famous dish. We included those QR codes with video links. After they watch the videos and explore the landmarks, they are supposed to answer the given questions. You can find our handouts below: It was fun to create this activity, but we faced some problems, especially with ARize, as I stated before. Hey everyone! Last week, I mentioned about the concept of flipped classroom and shared my vocabulary video.  This week, we prepared a grammar video, again with my friend Merve Mızrak . Our grammar subject was ''Adverbs of Frequency''. At the beginning, we talked about their functions and then showed our students some common adverbs of frequency (Form focus). Later on, we talked about some grammatical structures in which those adverbs could be used. Finally, we finished our video with a short exercise.  I believe that learning with flipped classroom videos is way more beneficial than traditional grammar teaching strategies.  When it comes to work share, Merve vocalized most of the video and created the handout worksheet through Canva while I also vocalized a part of the video and did the editing through Sony Vegas Pro. Today, I want to show you my flipped classroom video that I created with my friend Merve Mızrak.   What is Flipped Classroom after all?  A flipped classroom is a type of blended learning  where students are introduced to content at home and practice working through it at school.  What are the advantages and disadvantages of it?  Firstly, let's talk about some of its advantages. A flipped classroom promotes student-centered environment, and it is easily accessible from everywhere. Flipped classroom videos are usually short, so it enables students of digital era, whose attention spans are pretty short to learn. Speaking of its disadvantages, it adds extra workload on teachers, and these videos have to rely on trust, which means that students should be watching them but we cannot always make sure that they do. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, a corpus is: ''a collection of written or spoken material stored on a computer and used to find out how language is used''. Corpora (plural of corpus) are a great source for teachers, and you can make your students learn by themselves thanks to them.       Well, it has been a long journey, but we have come to an end. Different from the last year, in this term I have studied Educational Technologies course. Was it super interesting for me? I would not probably say yes as a person who spends most of his time with things connected to pc and internet. I was -at least- acquainted with most of the content taught in the course. But for someone who does not use computer at all besides social media may have found it interesting. Still, it was beneficial for me as I learned actually how can I use these websites in the teaching process, how can I integrate it to my classes in a fun way, so that students can both have fun and learn.     As this integration was the main concern of this course, I have to admit that it was super beneficial. Hey, it's me again with another post. In this post, I will share with you the movie poster that I created by adapting from a real book. The book that I chose is Notes From Underground, which was written by Fyodor Dostoevsky. By the word ''underground'' he reflects his own mind in the book. He shouts out his hatred against himself, people and life. While choosing the background, I tried to reflect his dark inner self. What he thinks inside. And I tried to pick some striking quotes that could draw the attention of those who look at the banner. And the word ''Underground'' is the biggest because, again, it is the most striking part of the title.

Hello everyone! Today, I want to share with you some information about webtools and mention some webtools I think that are the most useful for us, future teachers. Firstly, I want to congratulate your new year and wish you all luck and everything you want in 2020. Now, let's move on to our sites.  1- Pixton : It is a tool that allows you to create a book. (what I like the most is comics, though!) Just like most of the websites that I will recommend, it is free up to some extent and if you want more features you need to pay to have access.  2- Canva : To simply explain, The website that I used for creating the banner in this post is canva. You can create posters, infographics and more stuff through it. There are templates prepared and you just need to choose one related to your subject.  3- Poster My Wall : It is similar to Canva, but additionally, you can create video posters thorugh it. It also has free templates and you can edit them however you want.

Hey everyone, today we've made a video concerning a topic that probably all of us have been experienced at least once in our lives. It is about cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place over digital devices like cell phones, computers, and tablets. It can occur through SMS, Text, and apps, or online in social media, forums, or gaming where people can view, participate in, or share content. Cyberbullying includes sending, posting, or sharing negative, harmful, false, or mean content about someone else. It can include sharing personal or private information about someone else causing embarrassment or humiliation. Some cyberbullying crosses the line into criminal behavior. Hello. Today I am going to share with you the podcast that I created and my thoughts about it. You can listen to it from below. It was actually enjoyable but choosing the subject was the hardest part of the task. I realized that there are so many things to change in our world. In the future I can use this activity with my students because the feeling of creating something on your own is really honorary. It motivates for learning English.

As an education blog, I definitely recommend  Connected Teaching and Learning . In that blog, they share really informative entries and great lesson plans. I follow their posts.

   With so much content on the web being added daily, it can be tough to keep up with what is happening online. There are several ways that people try, including visiting each site every day, doing Google searches, or relying on social media to be informed. But there is one solution that never gets old: The RSS feed.  There are many online RSS feed sites that you can use. I am using CommaFeed, which is a free service.  In my RSS feed, I mostly follow aviation blogs as I am quite into aviation and education blogs that we were shown during the Educational Technologies course.  My favourite blog is definitely Flight Global. In the blog, news about aviation and sometimes informative articles are written. It also has a podcast that I can listen to. It is a pleasure for me to follow it and I highly recommend it if you are into aviation. 

In today's world, we all have direct access to technology. Technology is integrated into our lives in every field, just like education. We should use technology in our classes in such an effective way that it would be the most beneficial for our students. It is not all about using projection device and stuff. Apart from using it in classes, we can use technology in order to make them become a world citizen, raising their awareness by pointing out ongoing issues in our planet. Additionally, by using platforms such as Edmodo, we can help them become more productive as we can share information and clues about the homeworks we give, and creating a deadline through the app would urge them to do the tasks that we ask them to do. Even if they do not want to do, they will surely learn something when they are trying to complete the assignment. Technology can also help students become more innovative as they see something new everyday. They could put more effort on already existing proj...
